Mindful and Compassion Based Mental Health Charity

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy

An 8-week course to help manage stress, anxiety and low mood.

About the Course

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is suitable for people wishing to enhance their general physical and mental wellbeing. If you are experiencing stress, anxiety, recurrent depression or feel generally dissatisfied with your life, this course could help you develop skills to better respond to the ups and downs of everyday living. The programme is not offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological condition, and is not suitable for people currently experiencing very severe problems in these areas.

You will learn to deal more skilfully with the stresses and strains of daily living through a combination of guided meditation practices and cognitive exercises, with home practice between sessions estimated at around an hour a day.

Research shows that practising mindfulness has many benefits, including reduced anxiety, depression and stress, and it may also improve positive mood, compassion for self and others, attention and memory.
